At Jorgensen Forge, we apply Lean Manufacturing policies and practices in order to:
- Lower costs through the elimination of waste in every area of production
- Improve responsiveness to customer demands
- Reduce time throughout the entire business process
We use several tools to create a successful Lean Manufacturing environment such as the 5S Process: Sort, Simplify, Sweep, Standardize, Self-discipline. This process helps get all employees involved in organizing the workplace and keeping it clean. Maintaining standardized conditions and procedures is key to achieving a world-class work environment
Another lean tool, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), enables employees to participate in maintaining and improving their equipment’s reliability and efficiency. TPM policies include cleaning, repairing, and maintaining machinery that each employee operates. Compliance with TPM policies are audited on a regular basis
Jorgensen Forge also uses Kaizen, Setup Reduction, Cellular Manufacturing and Kanban. All these lean practices are designed to help reduce waste and cycle times, improve efficiency and responsiveness, and provide the best products and service at the lowest prices possible.
